Art 4 Safety Guidelines

Your safety is our priority. In cooperation with public health officials, in response to strong patron feedback, and along with many professional theatre companies, Art 4 requires attendees of any Art 4 event to follow the protocols below in an effort to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19. As guidelines are evolving frequently, so may these directives, so we ask you to please check back before attending an in-person theatrical production with Art 4. 

  1. Wellness: Any person who feels unwell or (a) has any COVID-19 Symptoms (b) has had a positive COVID-19 test in the past 10 days, or (c) has had close contact with anyone confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19 agrees not to attend an Art 4 production or meeting. Please email us at ask@art4sb.org where we will be happy to work with you to reschedule or refund your tickets.

  2. Face Masks: Right now and for as long as is necessary, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends medical-grade facial masks (multi-layer surgical, N95, KN95, or KF94 masks) for all individuals in public indoor settings, regardless of vaccination status. All visitors must wear a face mask while attending an Art 4 meeting, rehearsal, or performance, indoor or outdoor, where you may come within six feet of other attendees or staff.

  3. Physical Distancing: Wherever possible, visitors should abide by physical distancing guidelines, maintaining a six-foot distance from others not part of your group.

  4. Risk: Attendees understand that there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present. Those purchasing or attending Art 4 events voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

  5. Compliance: All Art 4 attendees must follow all health and safety procedures and signage posted while at Art 4 events. Art 4 reserves the right to require visitors who do not follow our guidelines to leave an event immediately. Any visitors who are disrespectful or discourteous to other guests, staff, or volunteers may also be asked to leave.

Vaccination Policy

In response to the CDC’s recent overhaul of its national COVID-19 recommendations (announced on Friday, February 25, 2022), Art 4 has revised its COVID-19 Policy. Influenced by the CDC's COVID-19 Community Level three-tiered coloring system, Art 4 will enforce the following guidelines for all events:

Red Level (High Risk):

  • Patrons, staff, actors, and volunteers must be vaccinated and wear face masks at all times.

Yellow Level (Medium Risk): 

  • Patrons and volunteers must wear face masks at all times.

Green Level (Low Risk):

  • Patrons are encouraged to be vaccinated. Face masks are optional.

  • Staff, actors, and volunteers must be vaccinated and face masks are optional.

COVID-19 Vaccination*

Art 4 requires* all audience members (only when the CDC COVID-19 Community Level is Red) to provide a valid government/student photo ID (15 years and older) and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to attend an Art 4 production. 

Art 4 welcomes fully vaccinated children aged 5 to 14 to the theater with proof of vaccination and a parent or chaperone in lieu of photo identification. Exceptions will be made for children under 5 accompanied by an adult that meets the above vaccination requirements. 


FACE MASKS
When CDC COVID-19 Community Level is Red or Yellow, facial masks, worn properly over the nose and mouth, will be required for all patrons (including children 2 years and older) in all areas and for the duration of their time in the theatre, including while seated during performances. Patrons arriving without appropriate face masks will be provided a disposable face mask.

Please note that shows will be performed at full length, including intermissions, and houses will be seated at full capacity.

The health and safety of our artists, staff, and patrons are of the utmost importance and anyone who does not follow our guidelines will not be allowed to enter the theatre. How do I share proof of vaccination?
Adults, students, children 15 years and older will be required* (only when the CDC COVID-19 Community Level is Red or Yellow) to show a valid photo ID and proof of vaccination upon entering the theatre for an Art 4 production. There are two ways to show proof of vaccination.

  • Manual card check: Upon theater entrance, patrons 15 years and older may provide a valid government or student photo ID and proof of vaccination. An original vaccination card, a photocopy of your card, or a photo on your smartphone showing your vaccination card is appropriate proof of vaccination.

  • Bindle mobile phone app: Bindle is a secure wallet for your health records and an easy way to privately share your COVID vaccination status with others. What does "fully vaccinated" mean?
“Fully vaccinated” means that the performance date must be at least 14 days after receiving the second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine, or at least 14 days after a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine.

Are you accepting a negative COVID-19 test as an alternative to vaccination?
Art 4 will not accept negative COVID tests for admission to our events. If the CDC COVID-19 Community Level is Red or Yellow, all audience members must be fully vaccinated. If the Community Level is green vaccination is encouraged, but not required. However, mandatory masking provides the safest way to come together to enjoy live theatre. 

For how long will this policy be in place?
Currently, the policy is in place through December 31, 2022. We will continue to review our policies on an ongoing basis to evolve with the best practices around health and safety and may revise policies accordingly. 

What are COVID-19 Symptoms?
People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Anyone can have mild to severe symptoms. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:

  • Fever (100.4 F or higher) or Chills, Cough, Shortness of Breath or Difficulty Breathing, Fatigue, Muscle or Body Aches, Headache, New Loss of Taste or Smell, Sore Throat, Congestion or Runny Nose, Nausea or Vomiting, Diarrhea

This list does not include all possible symptoms. CDC will continue to update this list as we learn more about COVID-19. Older adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness. What does "close contact with anyone confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19" mean?
Anyone who was within 6 feet of a COVID-19 positive person or suspected COVID-19 positive person with or without a mask for 15 minutes or more within 24 hours is at risk of possible exposure to COVID-19. Any person who feels unwell or who has had close contact with anyone confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19 agrees not to attend an Art 4 production or meeting.

Will actors on stage be performing with masks?
No, all actors will be performing without masks. All production crew members, actors, and technicians have been fully vaccinated before beginning work on the production.

Will the restrooms and patron seating areas be cleaned?
Enhanced, hospital-grade cleaning practices have been implemented throughout the facilities, including patron seats, tables, and restrooms.

What if I am not feeling well?
Not feeling well? Art 4 has a flexible exchange policy. Just give us a call or email our box office, ask@art4sb.org and our audience services team will be happy to work with you to exchange your tickets for another performance.

Will Food & Beverages be served at the theatre?
Concessions will be available for purchase. Patrons are asked to abide by physical distancing guidelines, maintaining a six-foot distance from others not part of your group while consuming food or beverages. Please remember that facial masks must be worn at all times when not eating or drinking.
