Next to Normal is the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning musical that tells the story of Diana Goodman, her worsening struggles with bipolar disorder and the effects her illness, and its management, has on her family. As we watch Diana battle her everyday challenges, we simultaneously see her daughter and husband cope with their unstable home.

MIMI BELL, DIANA GOODMAN
Since the beginning of her theatre career in 2017, Mimi Bell has played the roles of Nina Rosario, In the Heights at South Bend Civic Theatre, as well as Marianne Wilson in DISASTER! and Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors at Elkhart Civic Theatre. Mimi is absolutely thrilled to be working with Art 4 for the first time and she hopes to make the audience and directors proud! She would like to thank her family, her friends, and her dogs, Sofie, Max and Katie, for keeping her grounded and always being so encouraging!
CAMERON PONCE, DAN GOODMAN
Cameron Ponce is an actor, educator, and student from Elkhart, IN living with schizoaffective bipolar disorder. His passion for theatre acts as an emotional channel geared toward understanding his relationship with emotions, thoughts, and self. From the thoughtfulness of Horton in Premier Arts' Seussical the Musical to the bright humor of Lumiere in Elkhart Civic Theatre's Beauty & the Beast to the educating of Schmucker Middle School's exceptional education students, he seeks to learn about himself by learning from the stories others offer. This is his first production with Art 4 and in South Bend, IN. He dedicates this performance to those who his past emotional downfalls hurt the most.
LUCY BEARD, NATALIE GOODMAN
Lucy is a rising senior in the Visual and Performing Arts Magnet at Clay High School where she is studying Musical Theatre. Lucy has enjoyed performing on various stages, including Clay High School, Summerfly, South Bend Civic Theatre, and Art 4. Recent credits include Art 4’s Seaside Cabaret (soloist), Clay High School’s Jasper in Deadland (Agnes) and Metamorphoses (Alcyone), and Summerfly’s Hairspray (Velma). Lucy is incredibly honored and excited to be working with her directors, Mark and Aaron, as well as this talented cast whom she thanks for inspiring her. She would also like to thank her family and friends for supporting her in what she loves to do. She hopes you enjoy the show.
JORGE “JAY” RIVERA-HERRANS, GABE GOODMAN
Jorge “Jay” Rivera-Herrans is an aspiring playwright and actor from Dorado, Puerto Rico. His first pop-musical, Stupid Humans, recently debuted with a sold-out run at the University of Notre Dame under the direction of Matt Hawkins. Some of Jay’s notable roles include Usnavi in In The Heights with the Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Melchior in Spring Awakening at the University of Notre Dame, and Indigo in Stupid Humans. Jay is currently working on a second musical in collaboration with Matt Hawkins.
JOE B RUSSO, HENRY
Joe is so excited to be returning to Art 4 in Next to Normal. Born and raised in Fairbanks, AK, Joe has been teaching and performing in South Bend since September 2016. Most recently, you may have seen him performing with Art 4 in Seaside Cabaret and [title of show] as Hunter, or in South Bend Civic Theatre's As You Like It as Oliver. Other credits include Shrek in Shrek: the Musical (Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre), Charlie Brown in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and Brian in Avenue Q (University of Pennsylvania). Joe would like to thank his girlfriend Grace for keeping his head in the game.
LINCOLN WRIGHT, UNDERSTUDY (DR. FINE/DR. MADDEN, DAN GOODMAN)
Lincoln is excited to not only be making his Art 4 debut, but to be doing it alongside a very talented cast and as part of a powerful show like Next to Normal. Lincoln moved to the area about five years ago, and ever since has been singing and dancing all over local stages. He most recently took a break from performing and worked behind the scenes on Oliver as the Assistant Choreographer at the South Bend Civic Theater. Other notable acting credits include Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, Warner in Legally Blonde the Musical and Chris in Miss Saigon.
KAREN DICKERSON, UNDERSTUDY (DIANA GOODMAN) Karen Dickerson is a versatile soprano with a diverse repertoire. She is a founding performer with the South Bend Lyric Opera and has performed in each of the company’s six productions. Her roles with SBLO include Despina in Cosi fan tutte, Mother in Hansel and Gretel, Sally in Die Fledermaus, Gianetta in L’elisir d’Amore, and Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor. Other local credits include Rosalind in As You Like It at the South Bend Civic Theatre. Karen holds a B.A. in Music Performance from Bethel College. Her solo credits include Handel’s Messiah, Haydn's Creation, Schubert’s Mass in G, and Poulenc’s Gloria. A longtime lover of jazz, Karen can often be seen singing with some of her favorite musicians in and around South Bend.
ERIN JOINES, UNDERSTUDY (NATALIE GOODMAN) Erin Joines is an Acting BFA student at Baldwin Wallace University. Some of her previous roles include Sara u/s in Stop Kiss and Jason in Medea at Baldwin Wallace. She is so grateful to have the opportunity to work with Mark and Aaron again! She would like to thank the entire production team as well as her amazing castmates. She would also like to thank her friends and family for their love and support! Enjoy the Show!!!
BRADEN ALLISION, UNDERSTUDY (GABE GOODMAN)
Braden is ecstatic to be in the cast of Next to Normal. Previous credits include Into the Woods (Jack), The Secret Garden (Dickon), Big River (Huck Finn), and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Leaf). Braden would like to thank God for all the amazing opportunities he´s been blessed with and his friends and family for all of their support.
CRISTIAN MARQUEZ, DR.FINE/DR.MADDEN, UNDERSTUDY (HENRY)
Cristian is fresh out of high school and is overjoyed to be able to present his first show in the professional world with you. Cristian recently graduated from Clay High School and will be going to Ball State this fall to pursue his love for theatre. You may have seen Cristian around town before on stage at the South Bend Civic Theatre in shows like Jesus Christ Superstar (Annas) and In The Heights (Piragua Guy). He is so grateful for this learning experience and to be a part of this show that is one of his all time favorites. Coming from a family who actually had to deal with the loss of a sibling/son it really hits close to home. He would like to thank his directors Mark and Aaron whom he loves very much and his mom for all her love and support. Enjoy!

We believe in making art accessible to everyone, everywhere. That’s why we subsidize 10% of our ticket sales to every Art 4 show for our Pay What You Can ticket program, and have been since we started in 2017.
